ECIDC Accepting BESI Nominations
The East Central Illinois Development Corporation (ECIDC), Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois University's College of Business and Applied Sciences are now soliciting nominations for the 2009 Business Ethics and Social Involvement (BESI) Awards. Last year's recipients were Jim Ryan of Marshall, John Inyart of Charleston, and The Journal Gazette-Times Courier.
The BESI Awards, established in 1992 by the Lumpkin College of Business at Eastern Illinois University, recognize business firms and leaders for their ethical business practices and their exemplary contributions to meeting the social needs of their communities, Dr. Dianne Hoadley, Dean, Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences, EIU, said. “Specifically, the BESI Awards recognize firms and leaders for their ethically and socially responsible business practices, their distinctive contributions to meeting pressing social needs, and their enlightened, principled business leadership."
Each year, a screening committee compromised of representatives from ECIDC, Eastern Illinois University and Lake Land College selects the award recipients.
Nominations are submitted to individuals and businesses engaged in for-profit business activities in an eleven county region (Christian, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Jasper, Moultrie and Shelby).
Nominations are due by March 9th, 2009 and the BESI Awards Presentation will take place on May 14th during ECIDC’s annual meeting hosted at the Hilton Garden Inn in Effingham.
