History

The East Central Illinois Development Corporation (ECIDC) is a consortium of community and economic development leaders dedicated to fostering positive economic development activities throughout its nine county region by serving as a facilitator of marketing activities, human resource development and educational activities, dissemination of information from state and federal governmental sources, and sounding board for legislative issues. The outcome of these activities is to be economic growth as well as enhanced quality of life for all residents in the region.

The ECIDC region is composed of the following counties: Christian, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Moultrie and Shelby.

The East Central Illinois Development Corporation was incorporated in 1984, with twenty-five charter members from the region. ECIDC’s economic development strategy focuses on establishing a regional identity as a foundation on which to promote the region state-wide and nationally with the goal of attracting new businesses, industry and tourism to the region, while providing educational opportunities to its membership, its governmental units and its residents. It is one of the longest running regional groups in the state of Illinois.
