Join Us as We Honor Four Distinguished Community Leaders at the ECIDC 28th Annual Banquet & Recognition Awards Ceremony

Since 1993, Lake Land College, Eastern Illinois University, and ECIDC have partnered to honor some of the area's most successful business leaders and most dedicated community volunteers with the Business Ethics and Social Involvement (BESI) Award. ECIDC also sponsors two additional awards to honor leaders in community and economic development. During the 2012 ECIDC Annual Banquet, we will honor Mark Bolander of Newton and Scott Kabbes of Effingham with the BESI Award, Tom Wright of Dieterich with the Outstanding Leadership in Community and Economic Development Award, and Pam Crisman of Effingham with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Thelma Keller Convention Center, Effingham, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Reservation deadline is May 12, 2012. Admission: $35 per person. <more>

Area Community and Nonprofit Leader Symposium

Almost 100 area leaders attended the Community and Nonprofit Leader Symposium hosted by ECIDC and goodWORKSconnect on March 28, 2012 in Mattoon. Attendees were challenged by Craig Lindvahl to forget their fears and think entrepreneurially. There were break-out sessions on entrepreneurship in the classroom, creative funding models, what non-profits can and can't do in an election year, and quality/process refinement. The closing speaker, Tim Miles, shared his life experiences to help participants become better at creating a culture of creativity and understanding personality types to better foster positive change. Tourism Training for Community Leaders

The Land of Lincoln Tourism Development Office will show how the information for your communities' attractions, restaurants, accommodations, events and outdoor recreation are entered into the state tourism website, www.enjoyillinois.com. They will also explain the importance of creative descriptions when submitting your listings. The session will also highlight other opportunities for free listings through the regional website, www.visitcentralillinois.com and provide updates on the iMap marketing initiative. <more>

Community and Nonprofit Leader Symposium Scheduled for March 28, 2012

ECIDC and goodWORKSconnect.org are partnering to host this event on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Education Center of Sarah Bush Lincoln, Mattoon. Designed to bring together community, business, education and nonprofit leaders, the symposium will focus on entrepreneurial thinking and support services in the region. 2nd Annual Regional Broadband Summit Held in Mattoon, IL

Over 70 business representatives, educators, Internet Providers, and other community leaders attended the 2nd Annual Regional Broadband Summit in Mattoon, Illinois on December 1st. The event was held at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital's Education Center. It was sponsored and organized by East Central Illinois Development Corporation (ECIDC) and Broadband Illinois/PCI. <more>
