| East Central Illinois Development Corporation (ECIDC) was established in 1984 to assist economic development in a nine county region consisting of Christian, Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Moultrie and Shelby Counties. ECIDC was one of the first regional economic development organizations in the state and has continued to assist in meeting the economic development needs of east central Illinois.

We will be hosting this year’s ECIDC Annual Banquet and BESI Awards Presentation on May 15th at 6:00 pm at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, IL. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Ed Morrison will be keynoting the event. Mr. Morrison comes to East Central Illinois from Cleveland where he founded I-Open, the Institute for Open Economic Networks. Ed also works for the Center for Regional Development at Purdue University, as well as serving as the Economic Policy Advisor for the WIRED initiative in North Central Indiana. Ed is the publisher of EDPro, a popular weblog for economic development professionals. He serves on the Board of the University Economic Development Association, teaches advanced strategy at the Economic Development Institute, and serves on the Regional Experts Committee of the Council on Competitiveness.
Mr. Morrison has conducted strategy projects with economic developers in communities for over nineteen years. He is bringing all of his expertise to East Central Illinois to talk with us on how to become a stronger region. 2007 BESI Award Winners
The 2007 BESI winners were CHI Overhead Doors of Arthur, The First National Bank of Pana, Leach-Wilson Chevrolet-Buick of Shelbyville and Dr. Rick Workman of Effingham. The 2007 Lifetime Achievement award was presented to Lou Hencken.
2007 ECIDC Annual Banquet
The 2007 ECIDC Annual Banquet was held this year on May 17, 2007 at the Thelma Keller Convention Center. David Rumbarger was the guest speaker.
